The Glamping Business Setup Guide

- The 12 Steps -

Setting Up Your Glamping Business

How to design and layout a glamping site?

Designing the correct site layout is key to the success of any glamping project.  With over 30 years of experience helping and mentoring owners to develop their sites, there is a wealth of knowledge within our team. Knowledge and experience that is on hand to ensure that your project runs smoothly and your opportunity is maximised through a well thought out site. A site that caters to your customers’ needs but is easy to manage and works for you.

Developing your site can be a relatively tricky process as, it is very site specific. You will have to consider a number of factors; from working with varying topography, ease of access, to the location of the closest utility connections, the choice of septic system and the exact positioning of the Pods on their bases. All of these factors need to be costed early in the project to ascertain viability. Access to machinery or a good contractor is key.

How long will it take for my pods to arrive?

This will be entirely dependent on your chosen manufacturer. Lead times could be anywhere from 8 weeks to potentially 8 months. Most are built to order with some offering a level of customization. All Wigwam® Cabins are handbuilt by a team of dedicated craftsmen in Perth, Scotland, and take an average of 3-6 months from order to delivery.

Taking Delivery

Most pods will arrive fully assembled on a large flatbed truck. You will need to check access to see if the vehicle can reach your chosen site or whether you will need to offload the Pod and then use alternate machinery to deliver to the desired location - Hiab, crane, telehandler etc. You will also need to take the weight of the pod into consideration, for example our largest Wigwam® Lodge Pod weighs almost 4 tonnes.

What Next?

As soon as the Cabins have been correctly positioned and connected to mains electricity, water and drainage functions, they are technically ready for action!
